Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is an Mexican American Sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a reporter for SportsCenter and sometimes hosts SportsNation. She began working for ESPN in the year 2016. Her mother is the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her skills were instrumental in helping her land her first job as a production assistant for Univision Miami in which she was a producer of numerous shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. After this it was announced that her CBS subsidiary of St. Petersburg employed her as a sports reporter. After 2009, the reporter relocated to Rio Grande Valley Texas where she was employed by KNVO TV 48 Univision as well as Fox2 News. Her stories covered immigration drugs, immigration, as well as other issues on both the Texas and Mexico border. Additionally, she worked as the Spanish reporter on the newscast at 5 p.m. and anchor and reporter on the newscast of 9 p.m. with a reporter and anchor in English and a Spanish reporter at 10 p.m. She was also frequently called upon to be a weather and sports anchor. Deportes 23 is Univision Dallasstation, which is where she has more responsibility. She wrote pieces on Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason Finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. In addition, she hosted her own local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted as a sports anchor for Despierta America Deportes' morning show. It was the same role in Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo for the UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents come from Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point towards Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. She has an older sister. In 1992 the family left Mexico to the US and settled in Miami. Within a brief time her father divorced from her mother. She was subsequently remarried by 1995 naval architect called Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. While on a trip with the family in Ohio, younger Collins took a place with her older sister. Antonietta was the senior of her high school however, she had a clear idea of her goals for the future. She went to Mount Union University in order to determine if they suited her. As it turned out she was a fan of the university and they were offering the degree she was searching for. When she finished her high school education, she chose to go to the university and major in media studies. She developed a long-lasting relationship with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the manager of WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a part. His passion for journalism and confidence in her own abilities inspired her. In turn, she, tried to meet his standards and not disappoint him.
